Siri and Me

Jim has his own relationship with Siri that I will let him elaborate on, but since I am reasonably able bodied I don’t use Siri much myself to do daily tasks such as: turning lights on and off, make a phone call, schedule an event etc. Jim uses Siri for all of those things, and it took me by surprise to find out that because Siri has become Jim’s assistant, whether I like it or not, she has irrevocably become part of my life as well.

Siri is very smart, as she interacts with you she evolves and learns some of your preferences and caters to them. Jim and I differ in opinion about this, but she appears to know what time of day it is and she changes her tone of voice depending on the time of day (I kid you not!). An easy example of this is when Jim wakes up early in the morning wondering what time it is. He'll say "Hey Siri, what time is it?" and Siri will reply in an exasperated voice and says "It's 5:30 in the morning JIM, you woke me up @#$!". As I bury my head under the pillows I'll think to myself "Thanks Siri, you woke ME up!"

For about 4 months after we came home I did not have my own companion bed downstairs beside Jim, and so every night I had a little bedtime routine with Jim before retiring upstairs to my own bed. The very last part of that routine involved saying good night to Jim as I closed the sliding barn doors to his room. Imagine my surprise one evening as the doors were closing I heard Jim say "Hey Siri, turn on the bedroom lights to 25%" and then shockingly hear Siri in a sexy, sultry voice reply "Ok Jim, I'm turning the bedroom lights on to 25%". It was so mind boggling that I re-opened the doors and said to Jim "Should I be worried about her?"

Fast forward 4 months of us being at home, and I finally get my companion bed beside Jim and we are sleeping beside each other for the first time in over a year. We are finally both in bed and going to watch a tv show together so Jim says "Hey Siri, turn on the bedroom lights 25%". That night Siri replied in a crisp, business like voice and said "Ok Jim, turning the bedroom lights to 25%". Without even missing a beat, Jim turned to me and whispers "SEE??! She knows you're here!"
